Keira Knightley’s back. In case you didn’t know she’d been anywhere, post 2008’s The Duchess, she decided to take a year off, disappearing from view like, in her own words, “Keyser Söze... ‘And like that, she’s gone.’” But 2011 could be the year Knightley rises. Besides dystopian sci-fier Never Let Me Go (see page 110) she has messy-marriage drama Last Night on the horizon, and has recently wrapped shooting of Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, in which she’s the woman playing with Carl Jung’s (Michael Fassbender) mind. Before that, though, she’s opposite Colin Farrell in criminal romance London Boulevard. And while you won’t catch her swashing any buckles in Pirates 4, she has signed on for Noah Baumbach’s latest The Emperor’s Children with Michelle Williams. Knightley agrees that her comeback’s been about finding new challenges: “I’m trying to make more unusual choices now,” she smiles. “I needed time to recharge. As an actor, you can only get better if you allow yourself to live. It was important for me to do that...”
